Our treatment approaches are always tailored to the individual child's needs, and the activities are motivating, effective and fun, so that the child often thinks of therapy time as "playtime." To create the best program for an individual child, our therapists are experienced in a wide range of approaches. All are well versed and experienced in neurodevelopmental treatment (NDT) approach and sensory-integration (SI) therapy, and they draw from other treatment theories such as myofascial release, motor control and applied behavioral analysis (ABA). Our occupational therapists also have extensive training in feeding therapy, including dealing with problems involving unsafe swallow (dysphagia) and tongue thrust. Problems in visual-motor integration are often the cause of children's poor performance in school, not only in gym class, but also in art, writing, mapping skills in geography and graphing skills in math. Occupational therapists, such as those from O.T. Kids of NY, are the professionals best trained to remediate these problems and offer useful strategies for the child to use at home and in school. |
